INCOSE ASEP or CSEP Certificate
The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is the worldwide leading professional society for Systems Engineering. Its ASEP (Associate Systems Engineering Professional) and CSEP (Certified Systems Engineering Professional) certifications are valued around the globe by industry and government organizations alike as trusted recognition of a professional’s “knowledge, experience, and skills” in the modern fundamentals of Systems Engineering.
A Cornell First
Cornell Systems Engineering was honored to have its course SYSEN5100: Model Based Systems Engineering become the first experience in the world to be distinguished by INCOSE as being knowledge exam equivalent, enabling students to earn ASEP, if not CSEP certification through their performance in the course without taking the INCOSE examination. This recognition has only been earned by a handful of other organizations since, with more students earning knowledge exam equivalency through Cornell than any other program in the world.
Main Requirements
To earn the certification, students must successfully complete the SYSEN5100 course with an 85% or better and become a member of INCOSE. Students with more than 5 years of Systems Engineering work experience may then use the course to earn CSEP certification, otherwise students will earn ASEP certification as most of our students do. As SYSEN5100 is a core course in the Cornell Systems Engineering M. Eng. program, the vast majority of our graduates earn ASEP or CSEP INCOSE certification as essentially a bonus recognition on top of their already prestigious M. Eng. degree.
Additional Information
INCOSE Certifications require recipients must become members of INCOSE, although many companies are willing to pay for employee’s membership and there are substantial full-time student discounts as well. These and any associated fees are set by INCOSE and are independent of Cornell. ASEP certification must be renewed after 5 years, although after having 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, many ASEP recipients advance to earning CSEP certification.
