Reed elected AGU Fellow

Patrick Reed, Joseph C. Ford Professor of Engineering, was elected as an American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Fellow. He joined 53 other individuals in the 2022 Class of Fellows. United Nations energy council tabs Semida Silveira

Semida Silveira, a Professor of Practice in Cornell Engineering’s Systems Engineering program, has been appointed to the Council of Engineering for the Energy Transition (CEET), an independent advisory council to the United Nations Secretary-General. Sheri Minarski named Administrative Director of Systems Engineering

Sheri Minarski has been appointed Administrative Director of the Systems Engineering Program, which was effective as of June 1, 2022. Minarski has filled in as acting program manager since stand-alone administrative services for Systems were established in 2021. Endowed award established for Systems M.Eng. students

An endowed fund to help Master of Engineering students has been established thanks to the generosity of Cornell Engineering alumnus Jeff Loren ’75. The Jeff Loren ’75 Fund will provide financial assistance to graduate students enrolled at Cornell University with preference being given to M.Eng students in the Systems Engineering Program in the College of Engineering. A few years after earning his master’s degree from Cornell, Nirav Patel M.Eng. ’12 realized there was a need and, like all good systems engineers, sought to fulfill that need. “I started a venture of my own approximately three years ago.
